The Sapporo Snow Festival is the biggest winter event in Hokkaido.
It takes place from February 4 to February 11 every year.
We see many snow statues and projection mapping shows this event.
Over 2 million people come to Sapporo to join this event from Japan and abroad.

Small Snow Statues
Small snow statues were made by citizens like high school students, business persons, and companies.
ANIA from SPYxFAMILY. She is dancing to Fox dance at Area 3.
Fox dance is famous among funs of the baseball team Hokkaido Nipponham Fighters.
Another Ania snow statue at Area 6. She said, “I know the Snow Festival”.

Totoro from “Neighbor Totoro”. Everyone knows him.
“Neighbor Totoro” and other movies made by Studio Ghibli are very famous in Japan.
Cat bus and May from Neighbor Totoro. This snow statue got the first prize in a popularity snow statue contest in 2023.
Shohei Ohtani. He belonged to Hokkaido Nipponham Fighters which is a baseball team in Hokkaido.
Teacher Anzai from “SLUM DANK”.
SLUM DANK is a popular and famous Japanese basketball comic.
Teacher Anzai is a coach of basketball in Shohoku high school, He teaches main character Hanamichi Sakuragi and his teammates.
Why the team name was “Captain Tsubasa”(a famous soccer comic in Japan)?
“Shohoku High School basket ball club” is better than the team name.
Middle Snow Statues
Middle snow statues are bigger than small snow statues.
They are illuminated at night.
My Hero Academia. Many people took photographs of it.
Fox dance. Many kinds of animals dance “fox dance”.
Big Snow Statues
Big snow statues at Area4,Area5, Area6, Area7, Area8, Area10 this year.
Some of them are illuminated and Animation of projection mapping, and others are only lightup.
Dinosaur. It was only light up. Dinosaur fossils were found in east Hokkaido.
Horse Racing snow statue. The sponsor company is JRA(Japan Racing Association).
Sapporo horse racing field is in Sapporo city.

Hoheikan is at Nakajima park in Sapporo city.
It was projected movies about history of Sapporo city.
Embury Manor. This snow statue was made to give praise to Florence Nightingale.
F-village ballpark. The ballpark is opened on March 30 2023.
It is the base of the Hokkaido Nipponham Fighters baseball team.
